2/3/10, off on my next mission to Appleton Wisconsin. Close to Green Bay! I am in Texas right now delivering a load of cheese then picking up another load and heading north. Should be lots of fun it’s raining in Texas right now and I am sure I will be following the storm towards WI. Hopefully I won’t run in to too much ice and snow along the way.
I added two pictures. I went to Americold Logistics in Missouri. The warehouse is inside a giant cave. When I worked for Americold I always heard about this place now I can say I been there. I had to drive the truck down in a big pit dug out of the rock then drive into a tunnel, once inside there is a whole network of tunnels and caves with docks for loading and unloading. It was very strange and a little scary being under tons of solid rock.
Wish me luck!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
Made it back to Utah thru the ice and snow! Seen one truck turned over, Fed Ex again. Twice thru I-80 in Wyoming and both time seen a Fed-Ex on its side in the ditch. A lot of ice on the road pretty scary, I went slowly and took my time. Got two more loads, first one heading to Denver Co. dropping that one and picking up another in Fort Morgan CO. going to Tempe AZ then hopefully get something from there going to Texas. I added two new pictures of Utah when I started out this morning. I was originally going to start about 2 am to beat the storm but it beat me. The Winter storm advisory was suppose to end at 9:00 am so I waited until 6am to got pick up my load about 30 minutes from where I was at. The snow had stopped by then. When the sun was coming up, the mountains in Utah were very pretty but not much fun to drive thru although I will say when it snows so far Utah does the best job of keeping the roads as safe as possible. I will keep you posted on my next adventure.
Delivered to Save-A-Lot. When I woke-up it was 19 degrees my windshield was frozen with ice and 3 inches of snow on the ground. The good news was the warehouse was about 100 yards behind the truck stop where I was parked. The bad news was once I finished there I had to drive south east to Sidney Ohio 262 miles. I-90 was covered with packed snow. The snow plows where just starting to clear the roads when I started heading out.
Picked up my load in Sidney and now heading towards my destination of West Jordan Utah. About 1700 miles mostly all of it on I-80. Finally a load with some miles the bad news is only 2 1/2 days to get it there. Hopefully the weather will be better than today. 13 hours of snow and ice building up on the windshield. Funny thing I heard on the news. They were talking about the price of salt. They price it by the ton. That something you don't hear in California, they salt the hell out of everything around here.
Well should be in Utah early Thursday Morning the 31st. I have to go to the Companies Terminal in Salt Lake City. They will most likely "RED TAG" my truck meaning I can't drive it so I probably will be spending New Years in Salt Lake. Last Saturday my "ABS" and "Traction Control" idiot lights on the dash came on and won't go out. I contacted Over the Road Maintenance while sitting at a truck stop with a repair shop, they said I needed to be routed to a terminal to have it checked. I asked them if it was safe to drive! They wouldn't answer my question! So if I get in an accident because my brakes or traction control fail you know who to sue. I guess a law suite is cheaper than a repair shop. Any how Safety First
Delivering to Save-A-Lot in Austinburg Ohio Monday at 3:00 AM, which is North East Ohio off of I-90 very close to Lake Erie.
I re-designed my website so I could use it to communicate and add pictures more easily.
You can click on the "Follow Me" link on the left to view a map of my location. The map should also display a trail of where I came from and where I am heading. Hopefully this will eliminate the need to refresh the page to see what direction I am going.
The trail will only show my last 30 minutes of travel time so if there is no trail it's because I haven't moved within the last 30 minutes. This is a limitation set by the company that provides the tracking software. The 30 minute lag time may cause the map trail to appear as if I am flying as oppose to following a road, but you should be able to get a better idea of the direction I am heading. I also made the default zoom level less so more cities will be displayed to give you a better idea of what state I am in, I also changed the map to a hybrid wich mixes satalite photos with a road map overlay. Remember you can click on the plus or minus buttons on the map to zoom in and out.
Hopefully the software or my phone won't act up so the map will work correctly.
Love you
Tim
